Roy Beeson is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York City.

He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with close family ties to New Orleans, Louisiana and studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Before entering the photography industry, Roy worked as a mental health counselor in Athens, GA, worked his way through school in kitchens and as a waiter, spent time in NYC working as a researcher and in editing rooms on documentary films for public television and taught writing and art in high schools in Beirut, Lebanon.

He worked as a first assistant to photographer Ruven Afanador before embarking on his own career in 2011.

In 2017, Roy collaborated with the photographer Catherine Ledner on a documentary film about her father the modernist architect Albert C. Ledner. The film premiered at Docomomo NYC in conjunction with the Architecture and Design Film Festival and screened at the ADFF film festivals in New Orleans, NYC and Los Angeles in addition to film festivals in Australia and New Zealand. The film is scheduled for broadcast in early 2024.
